The whole system retails for around $1700, but the fronts are around $500 each, so you could pick them up for about the same money as the RTi A7. They have an HCS system based on the C607 as well.

Jamo makes a "Concert" series that is a better quality speaker. This is all in a relatively low-budget range though. They also make an HCS set that is a step up, called the S606 HCS, but I had a hard time with availability. I ended up ordering a set of Jamo speakers that come together as a "Home Cinema System" the S506 HCS. You can safely mix and match a sub because tones below 80 Hz don't carry much timbre. This means that for HT, you almost always want a matched set of speakers, with the exception of the sub. * They must cover the required frequency spectrum * They must be balanced (Audyssey helps with this) * They must all sound the same (called timbre) This means that all the speakers must meet some basic criteria: With HT, the audio mix is performed with the goal of utilizing all speakers in your HT setup to present an overall sound environment. They're very similar with just a small jump in wpc.Īnyway, here's what I've learned about HT speakers: I very nearly bought the Onkyo TX-SR608, but ended up with a TX-NR708. I'm not yet a Jamo owner (about 7 days away), but I, like you, have been doing a lot of research in to upgrading recently. Put a mancave together last summer and kept overall cost down vi using pieces I have had over the years and equipment bought when circuit city had it's close-out. I am just learning about Jamo and would like input if possible. Originally Posted by wouldtoo /forum/post/19048628 Probobly because its such a small midrange driver. Audiotest klipsch gig driver#
The 607 benifits from the front firing driver in the midbass and its one of the reasons i like them and the 506 as well. This huge drop from the 606 i would say is from the side firing driver. Now if you fallow the curve just a bit more, notice how the 606 takes a HUGE drop around 100 but the 607 takes a slow gradual drop. Now around 78hz they both seem to be about even. Now fallow the curve up around 45hz and the 606 takes a slight jump on the 607 only about 3-4db in this frequency. Look at the plot, the sweep starts at 20hz if you fallow both lines you see the 607 has a slight increase lower around 25hz and 32hz but not enough that you could tell if you were to A/B them side by side. I hear a similar deep bass but i dont hear the upper mid bass. I hear pretty much what the plot graph shows.

See this is where we differ and why i about pulled my back out lugging those heavy things down stairs to test. Thanks, in advance, for any and all info. 1st row center is about 8' from center channel and 9' from the Cerwin Vegas (if this info helps) The 606 has done a fairly good job so far. I guess info needed info on possible recommendations for front speakers, sub and center that will work together well to start. I know there is a better center and subwoofer. Guess since I am getting older, will a certain pair of Jamo's or the Polk Audio's sound more natural? I don't need huge pounding speakers anymore, but they are still fun! Haha I still like my 15 yr old Cerwin Vegas too ( haha). I was also considering the Polk Audio RTi A7. Which Jamo front speakers are recommended? I have heard the 606's at a small HT store, but is there a betterĬhoice? They did sound good. I have a little money to upgrade, just can't do it all at once.
